More About Covenant, Bangalore
Who We Are
Covenant is a Reformed, Presbyterian, Church, established in Bangalore in 2005, a Bible believing, Christ and His gospel, centered, denominational church.
What We Are
By denomination, we are a Reformed, Presbyterian, Church, following the Reformed system of doctrines of the Christian faith, articulated in the Westminster Confession of Faith. We are Presbyterian Church, believing in the plurality of Elders. We have ordained Elders (both teaching and ruling) and appointed Deacons.
The Pastor is the ordained, full-timing teaching Elder, who received the call from the Lord for full-time Christian service. He underwent minimum three years of full-time theological studies, confirming his call from the Lord for the full-time service. He has proved himself to be faithful unto the Lord though a transformed, sanctified life, living a life in personal holiness, and bringing up a godly, covenantal, home, in the fear of God. He is therefore able to preach the Word of God convincingly and passionately as he experiences the transforming power of the gospel in his own personal life.
Why We Are
Covenant Stands for the Following:
1. To "earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints" (Jude 3).
2. To rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 15) through faithful and expository preaching as "All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
3. To proclaim nothing but the gospel of Christ "for it is the power of God unto salvation" (Romans 1:16).
4. For prayer and fellowship of the saints as that was the apostolic pattern of the early church, "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers" (Acts 2:42).
5. For church membership and discipline.
6. For missions and evangelism to spreadforth the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ, the only Lord and Savior.
7. For publishing the truth of God through Reformation Now Publications.
8. To faithfully pass on the torch of God to the next generation and to the generations to come through India Reformed Biblical Seminary (IRBS).
